The next set for Teamfight Tactics is focused on the magical side of League of Legends’ vast cast. In the new Magic n’ Mayhem set, Teamfight Tactics will be visually transformed into the “Magitorium,” a vast castle where mages, wizards, and various magic folk gather to test their skills. Magic n’ Mayhem is set to release for free on July 31, along with an associated battle pass.
As usual, a new set for Teamfight Tactics comes with new champions, traits, mechanics, augments, and more. Magic n’ Mayhem will introduce a new mechanic called Charms, which are single-use spells that can turn the tide of combat. Charms appear in every other shop, replacing a unit slot. There are over 100 Charms, meant to express a wide variety of different kinds of magic — wealth, combat power, or disruptions on the battlefield. There are also lots of new Augments in the set, which should shake up rounds considerably.
The champions in Magic n’ Mayhem come from the various magical skin lines from League of Legends — Arcane, Coven, Winterblessed, Faerie Court, and even Cafe Cuties. One notable champion is a duo: Norra and Yuumi. While Yuumi is available in League of Legends as a support champion, Norra has only been in the card game Legends of Runeterra. It’s neat to see her emerge in other Riot properties.
The new set also comes with new cosmetics, some of which are available on the associated battle pass. This includes a few new Tacticians, little characters that hang out on the battlefield during matches. Some of them are cute little critters, and others are chibi forms of League of Legends champions. There are also arena skins, if you want to play on a prettier battlefield.
Riot is also working on multi-sets, which will allow players to plan out compositions for multiple sets when more than one is available at a time, and cosmetic loadouts that will allow players to easily swap between cosmetics.
