Winter Park’s bike-themed pizzeria has new owners after 14 years in business.
Stoney Jesseph, owner of Stoney’s Bar & Grill, alongside his partners, closed a deal last week to buy Pizza Pedal’r, a local family-owned pizzeria located steps away from his sports bar.
“It’s our third season in Winter Park, and we’re a couple doors down from Pizza Pedal’r,” Jesseph said. “We met (owner Rick Marion) and had talked with him about how we wanted a pizza place for a while. Rick was wanting to retire, so he approached us and we jumped on it.”
Jesseph and his partners — William Trautman, Cortney Kreimeyer and James Reagan — first ventured into Winter Park in 2021, opening the third location and first outside of Denver of their sports bar, Stoney’s Bar & Grill, at 120 Parry Peak Way.
Jesseph said Pizza Pedal’r is open during the transition and will largely stay the same.
“We’re just going to add a little of Stoney’s touch to it,” Jesseph said.
Rick Marion opened Pizza Pedal’r, located at 125 Parry Peak Way, in 2010. A second location opened in 2014 at 2907 Huron Way in Denver’s Union Station North but closed last year, according to the restaurant’s website.
Winter Park isn’t the only place that could see a Jesseph-owned pizzeria. Jesseph said he’s nearing a deal to take over a pizza shop in Denver, but did not share more details.
Jesseph and his partners first opened Stoney’s in 2010 at 1111 Lincoln St. in Cap Hill and opened in Uptown in 2018. Jesseph debuted Stoney’s Cantina in 2021 on South Broadway, but due to construction couldn’t turn a profit and closed the restaurant last year.
Winter Park, as a mountain town mostly dependent on seasonal traffic and tourists, has its own set of struggles, Jesseph said, as there’s less employee housing available and most employees work seasonally or do not stay long-term.
But business, he said, has been great since opening the Stoney’s location there three years ago.
“The landlords have been great, the sales have been great,” Jesseph said. “Winter Park is a great opportunity.”
