Nintendo will broadcast a new Nintendo Direct presentation on Tuesday, June 18, a showcase focused on Switch titles coming in 2024.
June’s Nintendo Direct will run for about 40 minutes and will start at 10 a.m. EDT/7 a.m. PDT. The showcase will stream on Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels. Nintendo tempered expectations for the showcase in a news release on Monday: “There will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation,” the company said.
Nintendo only has a couple of Switch games with confirmed release dates at the moment: Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. Of course, the company may have a few surprises in store. Nintendo still has Metroid Prime 4 on its schedule, and it’s rumored to be sitting on a handful of remakes and remasters of its past games.
Confirmed not to appear during June’s Nintendo Direct is the company’s next console. In May, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said in a public announcement, “We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch software lineup for the latter half of 2024, but please be aware that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during that presentation.” The company reiterated that message in Monday’s news release — no console news.
The “Switch 2” is reportedly coming sometime in early 2025, and we may not hear official details from Nintendo on that next-gen console until this fall or winter.
