The French Open continues on Sunday, June 2 at Roland-Garros, with some of the sports’ biggest stars in fourth-round action as they look to book a spot in the quarter-finals on the clay courts of Paris.

Last year’s Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz takes on Felix Auger-Aliassime in one of the best matches of the day, while Jannik Sinner might not have the crowd on his side when he plays Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

Alcaraz and Sinner have been battling injuries of late, but both have made it to the fourth round with relative ease – but the matches only get harder from here on in.

Iga Swiatek, Ons Jabeur and Coco Gauff are also all in action in the French capital. Swiatek remains the favourite for the title, having won through comfortably on her birthday against Marie Bouzkova in the last round.

Top men’s match – Carlos Alcaraz v Felix Auger-Aliassime

Alcaraz came into Roland-Garros off the back of a tricky clay-court season, as he continued to nurse a forearm injury. A convincing first round win over JJ Wolf was followed by a four set victory over Jesper de Jong, but the Spaniard looked back to his best when he dismantled Sebastian Korda in straight sets in round three.

But Auger-Aliassime is a different proposition. The talented Canadian might not have kicked on in his career as many predicted, but equally he cannot be discounted – especially if that forearm problem continues to trouble Alcaraz. Auger-Aliassime won’t be overawed by playing on the biggest of stages, and he looked in very decent form when he beat Ben Shelton in the previous round.

The duo have played five times, with Auger-Aliassime leading the head-to-head 3-2, but Alcaraz won their last two meetings and they have never played each other on clay.

Top women’s match – Coco Gauff v Elisabetta Cocciaretto

Second up on Philippe-Chatrier is fan favourite and third seed Gauff. She takes on Cocciaretto, who is having a breakout slam and taking the fans along with her. The Italian might be ranked 51 in the world, but she knocked out Beatriz Haddad Maia in the opening round before beating another seed, Liudmila Samsonova in the third round.

Cocciaretto plays exuberant tennis, and will be sure to get the crowd involved – if she can handle her nerves on Chatrier. As for Gauff, she hasn’t been utterly convincing but has done more than enough to make the fourth round without dropping a set.

They have played twice before, with Gauff winning both encounters – but they were close battles, and Cocciaretto has nothing to lose so could come out swinging.

It is all eyes on the doubles for the Brits, with Jamie Murray in action in the men’s doubles, as is Joe Salisbury, Neal Skupski, Henry Patten and Luke Johnson.

Maia Lumsden features in the women’s doubles, while Heather Watson and Salisbury play together in the mixed doubles. Skupski is another doubling up, with two matches to get through.
